This film is dedicated to Mayor Reiger, who had a great deal of influence on the development of Utrecht at the turn of the century. The opening shot is an aerial view of downtown, filmed from the hundred-metre-high Domtoren. Considerableattention is paid to the Domtoren, the Domkerk, the nearby university, and the most important canals. From a boat in the canal, the filmmaker depicts the shipyard basements and the low-lying quays. Many passers-by pose for the camera. Footage is also shot from a moving tram. The moving camera gives the film a more dynamic character than most of the other ‘city films’ from the early years of cinema.

Documentary about the city of Delft. After a panoramic shot of Delft, we see the city's most important buildings, canals, and streets. The filmmaker pays special attention to the Prinsenhof and the clock-winder of the Nieuwe Kerk. The second part of the film is dedicated to the Braat wrought-iron factory, with footage of a number of products, and employees at work. The film ends with a "phantom ride": downtown Delft is filmed from a moving tram.

Documentary about the city of Franeker. | After a brief historical introduction, the film shows the main streets, canals, and buildings of Franeker, including the beautiful town hall built in 1591. Also explored in detail is the accident that befell Prince Johan Maurits of Orange in 1665 when he visited Franeker: he fell into the water, and only barely managed to be saved. Of note in the film are the sparsely populated streets – in contrast to the crowds seen in some of the other 'city films’.

In an extensive introduction, this documentary refers to the long history of the town of Medemblik, which begins as early as 344 AD. The town was built on the site where, according to legend, the Frisian King Radboud (c. 680 - 719) built a fortress. | In a long panoramic shot taken from a church tower, we then see the city, its surroundings, and the banks of the Zuiderzee. We then see the most important buildings, streets, and squares. The intertitles give the standard information. The film ends with shots of the Radboud castle, built by Floris V in the 13th century (on the site where King Radboud’s fortress was said to have been built), and which for three centuries was an impregnable fortress during various regional disputes.

Documentaire over Zeist.

The Hague’s ‘holiday children’s party’ gave children from the city the opportunity to spend a day in nature, full of fresh air, fun, and a nutritious meal. Amersfoort, or rather the moors at Birkhoven and Soesterberg, was a popular destination. Because Amersfoort had a large garrison, soldiers were often used to help facilitate these events. This reportage shows about a thousand children who gather at The Hague’s Prinsengracht at six in the morning. The band is already there; two boys are heartily banging on their drums. Parents and other family members accompany the children to the train. Hanging out of the window, the children wave handkerchiefs to those who stay behind. At their destination, the Amersfoort Cavalry Corps await them with music. The children get a glass of milk, and army cooks prepare huge amounts of potatoes, beans, and 'gravy'. The film concludes with a lively parade, with a band leading the way. | One of the intertitles mentions that ‘the children's friend Mr. Henry ter Hall’ had also taken part in the day’s events. This revue artist is not recognizable in the film, but he may be one of the men we see with glasses, moustache, and a hat in the front of the parade. Ter Hall, who at the time had political ambitions, often dedicated his efforts to The Hague’s holiday children's party. He did not have any children from either of his two marriages.</video:description><video:content_loc>https://publicvideo.nl/static/streaming-playlists/hls/3af6c3f5-88ac-4e65-804f-f1c67faaec56/bb0466b3-6b48-4b72-8aa6-3c1886873048-master.m3u8</video:content_loc><video:player_loc>https://publicvideo.nl/videos/embed/8hiFkbmdbDy6h1okSLDytQ</video:player_loc><video:duration>346</video:duration><video:rating>0</video:rating><video:view_count>10</video:view_count><video:publication_date>2025-06-23T12:28:15.017Z</video:publication_date><video:tag>Stille Film</video:tag><video:tag>Silent Movie</video:tag><video:tag>The Hague</video:tag><video:tag>Amersfoort</video:tag><video:family_friendly>YES</video:family_friendly><video:uploader info="https://publicvideo.nl/c/eye1/videos">eye1</video:uploader><video:live>NO</video:live></video:video></url><url><loc>https://publicvideo.nl/w/6vP7g8aUT4SpwseKULHjSu</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://publicvideo.nl/lazy-static/thumbnails/cd48632e-f607-4504-b709-1c5907a73491.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Zaltbommel</video:title><video:description>This film is from the Eye Filmmuseum collection. This documentary shows the most important squares, streets, and buildings of Zaltbommel, with shots of the river Waal. We see the market, the water tower, old fortifications, the railway bridge, the St Maartens tower, the carillon tower, and the cable ferry. The film also has footage of a shipyard where ocean ships are built.
